Who developed the new NVAA?
The NVAA Work Group, composed of 12 subject-matter experts, was instrumental in developing the new course offerings. The group included scholars and researchers as well as seasoned victim service providers. Guided by the “Standards for Victim Assistance Programs and Providers” of the National Victim Assistance Standards Consortium, the group also relied on previous NVAA material, their own expertise, and input from additional experts, with OVC’s approval.
Who are the instructors?
All courses will be co-taught by teams of nationally recognized scholars/researchers from the academic community and practitioners with years of experience providing direct services to victims. The NVAA instructors are leaders in the fields of victimology, criminal justice, and victims’ rights and services.

Can OVC TTAC accommodate participants with special needs?
Yes. OVC TTAC is committed to making all NVAA sessions accessible to those with special needs. OVC TTAC will make any reasonable accommodations for participants who need sign language interpreters, Braille materials, etc. Please note that since NVAA sessions workshops are highly interactive, OVC TTAC requires 60-days notice in order to guarantee that needed accommodations can be secured and that training activities can be properly altered, if needed. In situations where less than 60-days notice can be provided, OVC TTAC will make every effort to accommodate special needs.
What is the appropriate dress for Academy sessions?
Dress will be casual.
What do Academy fees cover?
Academy fees for each track cover classroom materials, certificates of completion, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and morning and afternoon snacks.
