Eligibility for a State Crime Victim/Survivor Scholarship

What are the eligibility requirements?
Awards are made to state agencies/organizations based on the following criteria:

  • They have the capacity to administer a scholarship program.
  • They are a sponsor or cosponsor of the conference.
  • The conference is statewide in scope and audience.
  • The conference goals promote OVC’s mission and stated priorities.
  • The primary goal of the conference is to focus on victims’ rights, services, and/or skills and educational development for victim service providers and allied professionals.

Organizations must also have statewide membership or provide services to victims statewide, and be a public, nonprofit, community or faith-based organization.

Who is not eligible?

  • Organizations/agencies that are for profit.
  • Organization/agency board members and employees of the sponsoring and/or cosponsoring agency.
  • Organizations/agencies that do not support OVC’s mission, goals, and stated priorities.

Organizations/agencies that receive OVC discretionary or formula grant funding designated for conference support.

What is the due date for scholarship applications?
TTAC must receive the completed application at least 60 days before the scheduled event.

What does the scholarship pay for?
The scholarship reimburses some or all of the expenses associated with a victim’s/survivor’s attendance at a state conference, including:

  • Training/registration fees.
  • Transportation expenses, including ground transportation (at the government rate).
  • Lodging expenses (at the government rate).
  • Meals/incidental expenses (at the government rate).
