Since it began in 2002, Wasatch Forensic Nurses has emphasized a SANE program model that recognizes the importance of every nurse as an essential team member. As Dianne Fuller, who founded the team of 23 nurses who responds to 11 hospitals in the Salt Lake Valley, states, “Every decision that impacts the program is discussed with the team, and their input is a critical part of deciding whether or not changes will be implemented.” The result of this philosophy is a group of nurses who stay on the team and feel like they are part of a program that strives to make a difference in the lives of survivors of sexual assault.
